LedgerOS

A personal financial workspace combining an interactive ledger preview, account balances, spending insights, and document chat with page citations.

The challenge

A financial workspace needs understandable balances and a trustworthy history. LedgerOS explores how account activity, spending, and supporting documents can share one interface without blurring the boundary between calculations and generated answers.

The approach

The Angular preview calculates balances from integer cents and posted entries, keeping transfers out of income and spending. A Go modular monolith provides the API, worker, and migration foundation, with PostgreSQL as the planned financial system of record and Valkey for background jobs. A separate Python document engine supports PDF uploads, retrieval, and streamed answers with page citations.

  1. Angular dashboard with an exact-amount sample ledger
  2. Go API, worker, and embedded migration foundation
  3. PostgreSQL storage foundation and Valkey job queue
  4. Separate Python PDF retrieval and cited document chat

The outcome

The project includes the interactive dashboard, searchable transactions, account views, spending insights, and integrated document chat. The dashboard sits behind a sign-in, and the financial screens use randomly generated USD sample data held in memory; core ledger APIs and persistent financial storage are the next phase. The Go foundation includes health probes, migrations, contract tests, and CI checks.

What I learned

Explicit data boundaries make a financial interface easier to trust: balances come from defined ledger rules, while document answers remain tied to their sources.
