Currently Reading
A focused social reading app with three current books, shared notes, and a chronological friend feed for discovery and conversation.
1 / 3
The challenge
A social reading product can quickly grow into ratings, streaks, reviews, and recommendation algorithms. This project explores a smaller question: what are your friends reading now?
The approach
The product limits each person to three currently-reading slots and uses a chronological feed. Its code separates domain rules, SQLx database access, and the Axum API, with a SvelteKit interface and Open Library book data.
- Pure domain types and rules
- SQLx and PostgreSQL persistence
- Axum API and static file serving
- SvelteKit interface with Open Library metadata
The outcome
The repository includes the reading interface, onboarding flows, backend crates, and a documented local development setup. Public deployment and production usage are not yet connected to this portfolio.
What I learned
A clear product boundary can be an architectural advantage: fewer competing features make the central interaction easier to understand.
